| I believe that feminism for today's women is not about bra burning and banner waving. I believe that as women we have the right to be independent, to be successful in a life-work that is important to us, that we are equal partners in the relationships we have chosen. I believe that it is important to give some of my time and energy to helping a young girl, or woman, realize that she is valuable not only as a person, but as a contributing member of society. If I help a girl/woman to increase her self-confidence and self-esteem, to believe in herself, I am a feminist. To me feminism is a belief in the value of women that infuses our actions. |
